Fundación Aland promotes and participates in the Regenerative Territories Network, made up of entities that have the common goal of transforming territories to regenerate ecosystems and align ecology with economy. For Aland, being part of a movement that seeks to change the world requires creating networks, synergies and connecting people.
For Fundación Aland, the meeting of the Regenerative Territories Network that has taken place together with our colleagues from Mértola, in Portugal, is proof that, as it is often said, united we can go further.
This meeting, this union, has been a reality thanks to all the people, entities and organizations that are part of and promote the movement for which the Network works: To turn the Iberian Peninsula into a European reference for the restoration and regeneration of landscapes, territories and new ways of life that are sustainable and viable for people and for the planet.
Antonio, coordinator of the meeting, and Érika, are a fundamental part of Aland, and of this Network. Thanks also to the AlVelAl Association team present at this event, where they have shared with the world their model after 10 years regenerating the Steppe Altiplano.
REGENERATIVE TERRITORIES
Working in a territory from the regenerative model means aligning human activity with nature, in a harmonious and sustainable way. Creating at the same time, more lively ecosystems and enabling the economic and social development of rural areas, adhering the population to the territory.
Through:
Regenerative agriculture (carbon agriculture, zero water footprint, soil recovery…).
Landscape restoration (biodiversity recovery).
Promoting social entrepreneurship projects in rural environments, developing a positive activity for the environment, socially and economically profitable.
This network is inspired by other entities such as Commonlad, in Holland, a reference organization in Europe, founder of the 4 Returns model, whose objective is: “to restore degraded landscapes and create more hopeful futures for people, nature, the rural world and the economy”.
The Network, driven by Fundación Aland, is made up of landscapes and strategic partners located in Spain and Portugal, with European-wide alliances.
